🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MITCH! 🎂
I have recently adopted this wiki and it has come to my recent attention that this wiki needs some new active admins to help maintain it, so I will be appointing some.
I have already picked Buffyfan123, and MechQueste as admins but I would like 2 more.
Requirements:
In the entries below, please tell me a little about yourself and why you think you'd make a good admin!
May the odds be forever in your favor! <3 Good luck!

Exciting news, X-Files fans! Variety has reported that a six-episode limited series has formally been given a series order by Fox. Even better is that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be back as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully!
What are your thoughts? Nervous? Excited? Share it all with us along with any predictions you might have of how the new series will go!

Veronica Cartwright played Cassandra_Spender, ex-wife of the Smoking man, is scheduled to appear at the Mid-Atlantic Nolstalgia Convention Sept. 18-20 in Hunt Valley, Maryland. She'll be there with her sister, Angela Cartwright, Penny from Lost in Space, as well as Piper Laurie, Lana Wood, and a few others.
Hello to all,
I just wanted to share some information regarding the comment section our founder Mulder has recently reopened after disabling it for a time because of vandalism and vulgar language. Let me specify that all comments that include inappropriate language will be edited or deleted.
Please keep the comments clean and constructive. Plain mean criticism will also be edited or deleted. Grammar and spelling mistakes may be edited for clarity.
I wish to reiterate that all can edit this wiki's articles (only the most popular pages have a special protection to prevent trolling and vandalism), so it is not necessary to point out to errors or missing elements in the comment section. Feel free to edit it yourself, even if you are only an anonymous contributor, you are welcome to do so!

Hello to all contributors,
I am noticing many non-member contributors commenting on articles, pointing out to inconsistencies or errors in the text. Please! Do feel free to edit the article, it is open to all to edit or add valuable information! You don't need permission to improve the articles. You are only helping and making the articles more accurate. It is greatly appreciated.
I am also taking this opportunity to let French speakers know or remind them there is a French X-Files wiki in great need of contributors. Come over and write an article about your favourite character or favourite episode. The Mulder and Scully character pages are still blank! Thanks!
This is a message sent to me by Orodromeus:
Hello!
Sorry, your e-mail went into my spam and I only saw it now while cleaning up!So: first of all I'm a very small contributor to the XF wiki (http://x-files.wikia.com/wiki/User:Orodromeus) however I've been doing my X-Files thing elsewhere, with the site Eat The Corn which was first done to analyse the mythology but now has extended to general dossiers and to the 1013 Interviews Database.
The reason why I haven't contributed to the wiki much is first of all time, that goes for my site as well, and also because I don't like the temporary structure of the XF wiki as it is hosted in Wikia -- it's full of ads and links to other Wikias and the fact that nobody among the contributors controls the Wikia site means that Wikia can decide to take it down or freeze it or censor it as it wishes.
My thinking was that it would make sense to have a wiki database on 1013 projects that stands on its own, that has a domain name of itself, like xfwiki.com or xfilesdatabase.com or 1013info.com. You have more flexibility with themes, you can have portals for different languages, you can have a news feed, and more importantly you can have a domain name that is easy to refer to. Do something like the Battlestar Wiki. There's been a huge amount of work done on the XF wiki, there have been similar attempts elsewhere for comprehensive information databases (XF Lexicon, Big Light, ...) but none has reached the level of detail of the XF wiki and (this is an important point for me) as the fandom grows smaller over time it makes sense to pool our resources rather than to disperse them! This is a similar thinking to a kind of webring that we tried to build (but with little impact as of yet), the Syndicate Consortium.
Of course there's the hosting issue and the money. I have enough space on my hosting with Eat The Corn to transfer the site, but I don't know technically how visitors would be routed to a new domain name like 1013info.com and not eatthecorn.com/1013info/ ... we'd need a tech guy here. The other solution would be to pool together along with a number of sites/contributors and take a hosting (what's costly is the hosting, not the domain name, and still we're talking about around 50 € er... 65 USD per year).
Share your thoughts and do pass this around to whoever you think relevant -- I contacted you as one of the admins but this is a decision that can only be taken together.

So, I would like the idea of an X-Files database that doesn't have all these ads like Wikia does but its been tried before and failed.
Let's talk about this a bit. Do you think we should try that? Do you think we should just try and build up the X-Files wikia?
If you didn't already know, Orodromeus, the author of the remarquable Eat the Corn X-Files site is among us. I am certainly looking forward to what he will bring to this wiki.
https://twitter.com/XFilesWiki
I put us on twitter based on the encouragement I received from one XFU member. X-Files news has 5,000 twitter followers. FrankSpotnitz has 2,000. Even if we only recruited a dozen people from all that, we could greatly expand content. In any case, we'll probably get more site traffic.
I've been thinking we should have a page that links to fan sites. X-Files Universe's admin is interested in working with us. We're going to have to edit the main page's template I think. Include a link to a page of fan sites and so on. (I've been learning about the best fan fiction sites out there; I've been meaning to read the story about the Eves all grown up. Its supposed to be really good.)
What do you folks think about working with some of the fan sites?
