Frank Welker is a veteran voice actor who is renowned for his excellent imitations of animal noises. It has been said that if any television show wants animal noises, it is easier to ask him to do them, rather than record actual animals.
Welker is also well known as the voice of Freddy in "Scooby-Doo", a role he has played since the show premiered in 1969. He also now voices Scooby Doo, with the passing of Don Messick.
Other notable voice roles include those of Nibbler on "Futurama" and Megatron, Soundwave and several other Decepticons in the Generation One series of "Transformers", which aired from 1984 to 1987. Although the character of Galvatron was voiced by Leonard Nimoy in the 1986 animated movie Welker took over the role from Season 3 until the show's cancellation. He reprised the roles of Soundwave and Galvatron in Michael Bay's live action series.
In April 2016, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Emmy at the Creative Emmy Awards for his extensive voice work over the past five decades.
