Lara Means Christmas

Lara Means attending a Christmas Eve party at Peter Watts' house.

Lara Means (played by Kristen Cloke) was a forensic psychologist. She was a candidate to the Millennium Group who often worked with Frank Black. Like Frank she too had a "gift"; hers in the form of visitations by an angel.

Frank and Lara first encounter each other when Peter Watts and the Millennium Group send them to work on opposite ends of the Danielle Barbakow case. Frank is sent as a consultant for the local Sheriff's Department while Lara is sent to consult for the defendant. They soon realize they were both sent by the Group to "find the evil" hidden there. (MM: "Monster") Later, Frank reveals to Peter that he knows Lara is also working with the Group when he hastily requests her assistance in profiling a man accused of kidnapping a school bus full of children. (MM: "19:19")

The Group continues to test Lara and Frank's ability to "find the evil" when they are assigned to determine the moral compass of a doctor committing assisted suicide under suspicious circumstances. They wonder aloud if all the cases the Group have been assigning them are tests. (MM: "Goodbye, Charlie")

Although Lara and Frank's relationship seems purely plutonic, she is nevertheless embarrassed and visibly uncomfortable when Frank's estranged wife Catherine walks in on them reenacting a murder scene in Frank's living room. (MM: "Siren")

As time wore on, her visions would often get more apocalyptic in nature, putting her in great distress. After she was sworn in as a full member of the Millennium Group on the eve of the Marburg Virus outbreak, she had a complete mental breakdown from the knowledge that was given to her upon initiation. Her last act of sanity before being committed was giving her ration of the Marburg vaccine to Frank.

Frank visited her by her bedside before retreating to his cabin with his family. He thanked her for understanding the burden he often felt, and hoped that she would now find peace. (MM: "The Time is Now") Note: Whether or not Lara survives the outbreak is never revealed, however her final scene implies that her fate is to be institutionalized in a possibly permanent catatonic state.

Lara's catch-phrase was "Here's my thing"; which she said before explaining her angle.
