Sal was a firefighter and officer of Blackwood County Fire Department.

In 1998, Sal was lost during a rescue attempt to retrieve a missing boy, named Stevie, from a cave. Initially, Fire Captain Miles Cooles sent two firefighters - Danny and T.C. - into the cave. When Cooles realized that they were not responding to radio communication, he ordered Sal and another officer, named Glenn, to follow T.C. and Danny. (The X-Files Movie)
