"This" is the second episode of the eleventh season of The X-FilesIt is written and directed by Glen Morgan.

Synopsis Edit

An old friend reaches out to Mulder and Scully in a seemingly impossible way, revealing a chilling secret.

Summary Edit

A video call from Richard Langly wakes up a sleeping Mulder and Scully. Just as they receive the call, they are attacked by 3 men wielding guns. After shooting all three of them, Mulder and Scully resume the call. Then more people arrive (Russians) and try to take Mulder and Scully hostage.

They escape ad meet with Walter Skinner in the woods and asks for some help.

Langly has left a trail of breadcrumbs, starting with the cemetery where he and the other Lone Gunmen are buried. Mulder finds a barcode disc behind the cross on Deep Throat's headstone at the cemetery. They get ambushed by a man who they promptly shoot to kill.

After checking the barcode disc, they ask Skinner for help and access the X Files which have now been uploaded online.

All of Langly's records had been erased but other records lead the agents to a professor who explains about an alternate reality where people can be uploaded to after their death. While explaining, the professor is killed by the man who the agents shot to kill. the professor however manages to gives the agents useful information concerning a building, Titanpointe which was in the barcode disc. Mulder and Scully sneak in only to get assaulted once more but later escape.

Mulder meets with Erika Price and asks to see the servers for the alternate reality-like world that Langley was in. While the Russian commander is leading him, Mulder attacks him and lets Scully enter the room with the servers. Scully smashes the glass and disables all of them.

When she and Mulder return to his home, they receive a final call from Langly which then cuts off and becomes one of the man the agents tried to kill, dancing.
