Tithonus was a figure in Greek and Roman mythology, the human husband of Aurora, the personification of the dawn. Aurora convinced the other gods to grant her husband eternal life, but forgot to ensure his eternal youth. Eventually, Tithonus became so withered with age that he turned into a cricket.
