The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is a branch of the United States Armed Forces, although as of 2002 it was a part of the U.S. Department of Transportation rather than the U.S. Department of Defense like the rest of the military's branches. In 1995, the USCG had a base in Newport News, Virginia. Fox Mulder came here when investigating one of his cases. (TXF: "Nisei")

In 2002, the USCG operated a base out of Miami Beach in Florida. Morris Fletcher was taken here after he was rescued at sea by the Coast Guard. (TXF: "Jump the Shark")
