Watergate Hotel & Office Complex

The Watergate Hotel & Office Complex is a luxurious building in Washington, D.C. and was the scene of the infamous Watergate Scandal in the 1970s.

In 1994, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully met covertly in the car park of the Watergate Hotel & Office Complex. Upon arriving at the complex, Mulder noted to Scully that $4 per hour for car-parking was "criminal". (TXF: "Little Green Men")

The location was probably chosen by Mulder for his interest in conspiracies and his previous relationship with Deep Throat, an informant of Mulder's who shared his name with the whistle-blower in the Watergate Scandal. However, the connection between the Watergate Scandal and the Watergate Hotel & Office Complex is only hinted at in the episode and the historical Deep Throat is never referenced in any episode of The X-Files.
